The President of the Scientific Council (S.C.) of HFRI, Professor Xeni Chryssochoou, addressed the opening of the Event, expressing her appreciation for the Action. She thanked the organizers for taking the initiative and organizing the Event as part of the activities to support the academic and research community. “Since its inception, the HFRI has been the only Institution that funds research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, with specific thematic committees throughout its Actions. It has supported the infrastructure of Social Sciences and Humanities with the European Social Research and the Dariah & Clarin infrastructure so that Greek participation is not disrupted and will have other actions in cooperation with the United States of America. The HFRI is eager to contribute to improving the presence of Humanities and Social Sciences in the country’s research map,” Professor Chryssochoou stated.
The Director of the Foundation, Dr. Aikaterini Kouravelou, attended the Event as a speaker. In her presentation titled “HFRI’s contribution to the strengthening of Humanities and Social Sciences,” she briefly reviewed the Foundation’s objectives and activities from 2016 to date, focusing on the areas related to Social Sciences and Humanities and Arts and referred to the upcoming Calls and collaborations to continue enhancing basic research in the country. During the presentation, she provided valuable advice on how to submit proposals to HFRI Actions through the online platform and answered the participants’ questions, who expressed great interest in the funding opportunities offered by the Foundation. Dr. Kouravelou concluded her presentation by stating that “The HFRI aims to continue its uninterrupted support to the Greek research and academic community, with scientific excellence and quality as its sole criteria. The continuous support of all Scientific Areas, including Social Sciences and Humanities and Arts, is a priority in the Foundation’s strategy.”
