The Chair of H.F.R.I.’s Scientific Council, Professor of Social and Political Psychology, Mrs. Xeni Chryssochoou, had the honor to welcome the event “Creative collaborations of Merimna – EKPA for the child and adolescent who experiences losses” .

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (10.10.2022) and World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (8.10.2022), the event highlighted the milestones of the collaboration between the University of Athens and “Merimna”, a non-profit civil company which for 27 years now provides free services to children experiencing illness or loss of a loved one or suffering from a life-threatening illness, thus being in need of pediatric palliative care at home.

In her welcoming speech, Mrs. Chryssochoou stressed how much “important is the Public University to be in contact with the community, to use, disseminate and put the knowledge produced there at the service of the community”. Moreover, as a psychologist, Mrs. Chryssochoou recognized the contribution of “Merimna” in supporting people who are grieving, especially children.

Concluding her speech, she wishes the Chair of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Danae Papadatou, and the associates of “Merimna” good luck and success in their work. She also congratulated the University of Athens for its long-term cooperation with the non-profit civil company, which contributes to the strengthening of civil society and the production of new knowledge.
