The support of Basic Research was at the center of important meetings of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation with the political leadership of the Ministry of Development and Investments and the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation.

Early in September, the Deputy Minister for Development and Investments, Dr Christos Dimas, visited H.F.R.I.’s facilities, where he was welcomed and given a tour by the Chair and the Members of the Scientific Council as well as the Director of the Foundation. During the meeting, a constructive discussion was held on the tools and sources of financing, but mainly on the activity of the Foundation in the context of supporting Research and Innovation in the country.

On Monday, October 3, 2022, the General Secretary for Research and Innovation, Professor Athanasios Kyriazis, has also visited the Foundation. During his visit, the Foundation’s Scientific Council and the Director had a fruitful discussion regarding the future of basic research in Greece and in particular the pivotal role played by H.F.R.I. in its financing. Then, Mr. Kyriazis was given a tour at H.F.R.I.’s offices, where he had the chance to meet the staff of the Foundation.

The positive atmosphere of the meetings made it clear that the cooperation of all relevant parties remains of primary importance for the achievement of the common goal, which is none other than the continuous and consistent strengthening of the Academic and Research community in Greece.
