The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) participated in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Athens Science Festival 2024 | “Tales of Change,” which took place on 16-21 April 2024 at Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens. The Foundation participated in the Event with the presentation of four research projects, supported under the 3rd Call of the Action “Science and Society” under the title “Research, Innovation and Dissemination Hubs.”
On Wednesday, April 17, students at the 1st General High School of Elefsina visited INNOVATHENS to attend the Workshop for Children, “Digital Elements.” As part of the Action, the students participated in an innovative method of teaching Euclidean Geometry, using the Delements application on their mobile devices.
The teams of the other projects welcomed the visitors to the Athens Science Festival in the area of MICHANOURGEIO. For two days, on Wednesday, 17 and Friday, April 19, members of the research team of APEX presented this Project, which is addressed to secondary school students, on Renewable Energy Resources and Energy Saving as a means to combat the climate crisis and talked about the important Project that is being implemented at the Hubs stationed at Cibitanideos Public School of Arts and Professions and the 1st Vocational High School of Mytilene.
H.F.R.I.’s presence at the anniversary Athens Science Festival was concluded on the weekend of 20 and 21 April with the presentation of two interactive exhibitions.
More specifically, on Saturday, the research team of Project “μCosmics,” with the help of schoolgirls, built cosmic ray detectors, carried out experimental measurements and detected the invisible rain of particles caused by high-energy cosmic rays.
Finally, the participants at the Athens Science Festival together with the “Mystique – STEM Quake” team actively participated throughout the weekend in unraveling the secrets of earthquakes, with activities of loading building models on the Shake Table and printed 3D models of the Earth’s geological structures.
The H.F.R.I. successfully completed its third participation in the Athens Science Festival, looking forward to the next celebration of science, contributing in turn to the Foundation’s connection with society.
