The President of the Scientific Council (SC) of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI), Professor Xeni Chryssochoou and the Director of the Foundation, Dr Katerina Kouravelou, participated in the conference “Should I stay? Should I leave? Should I return?” on the mobility of the specialized scientific staff: challenges and opportunities for individuals, society and the economy,” organized by the National Documentation Center (NDC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance, at the Amphitheatre of the National Research Foundation (NRF).

Present at the third round of discussions were Professor Chryssochoou and Manolis Pratsinakis, Assistant Professor at Harokopio University of Athens, the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Georgia Valatsou, the Director and President of the Board of the National Centre for Social Research (NCSR), Mrs. Vasiliki Georgiadou, the President of DOATAP, Mr. Orestis Kalogirou, the Director and Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic National Research Institute, Mr. Demosthenes Sarigiannis and the Professor of the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Dimitris Christopoulos.

Through the participants’ responses to the main questions of the Conference, “Should I stay? Should I leave?” was added to the question “Should I return?” referring to the existence of appropriate conditions for the mobility of qualified scientific staff. Among other things, the need for trust in the institutions and good cooperation between Greek universities and research centers was stressed in order to strengthen the upskilling of scientists.
