The General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) is organizing a two-day conference & exhibition on the “Protection and Promotion of the Greek Cultural Heritage through the implementation of projects carried out by the Research and Technological Institutions supervised by the GSRI.”

The Event will take place on April 2 and 3, 2024, at the Leonidas Zervas Amphitheatre of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, at 48 Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue, Athens.

At the Event, Research and Technology institutions, supervised by the GSRI, will present state-of-the-art, innovative and easy-to-use applications from research projects, which can be applied directly for the protection of our Cultural Heritage, as well as for its Elevation and Promotion.

More specifically, on the first day, there will be a presentation of research projects on the identification, recording and management of risks such as earthquakes, fires, floods and climate change, with the aim of taking preventive measures to avoid disasters or mitigate their effects. The first day will close on the vital role of conservation in the long-term preservation of our Cultural Heritage.

The second day focuses on the Elevation and Promotion of the country’s rich cultural heritage, with presentations of research projects, as well as the participants’ direct communication with them, since they will be exhibited at the premises of the National Hellenic Research Foundation (N.H.R.F.)

The Event features an exhibition in the outdoor area of the amphitheatre that aims to inform and raise awareness among the participants on issues of disasters that have affected the cultural heritage of humanity from ancient times until today.

The meeting’s participants will have the opportunity to participate in a specially organized tour of the National Gallery for an on-site presentation of the results of Project PROTEAS by the Project’s participants.
